About

About Setup Quarterly

An independent review desk for the gear that makes a working setup -- tested in the open, funded transparently.

Setup Quarterly reviews the hardware, furniture, and tools that people actually work at: monitors, keyboards, desks, chairs, lighting, microphones, docks, and the small accessories that quietly decide whether a setup is a pleasure or a chore. We write for developers, designers, writers, and creators who care about the details and want a straight answer before they spend money.

What we do

Most "best of" lists are thin -- a lightly-reworded spec sheet, an affiliate link, and no real point of view. We go deeper: each pick is built from the manufacturer's specs, the most credible independent testing, and the consensus of long-term owners, all cross-checked and carried through the same framework -- with a clear, honest verdict, including the parts that don't flatter the product. Where we've used the gear ourselves, we say so. A pick only ships when we'd be comfortable recommending it (or warning you off it) to a friend.

Our cadence is deliberate. As the name suggests, we publish in considered batches rather than chasing every launch. That gives us time to research properly, compare alternatives side by side, and revisit verdicts when firmware updates, price changes, or long-term use change the picture.

How we stay independent

Setup Quarterly is funded by affiliate commissions. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That funding pays for the gear and the time to test it -- but it never decides the verdict. We are not paid to publish reviews, we don't accept sponsored placements dressed up as editorial, and a product's affiliate payout has no bearing on its rating or its position in any ranking. If a product is mediocre, we say so, link or no link.

You can read exactly how we test in our methodology, the rules we hold ourselves to in our editorial standards, and the full details of our affiliate model in our disclosure.

Who is behind it

Setup Quarterly is an independent publication founded by Canel Karadeniz. It is a sister publication to curatorbits.com, and shares its editorial standard: test honestly, write plainly, and respect the reader's time and money.
